Hmm. So the Chinese crashed into the American's plane,
or vice a versa, and a Chinese pilot has died. This seems to be a factor
on the side of the Chinese; but I'm expecting that in the eyes of both
powers, a life is less important than a fighter plane. Therefore the US
seem pretty pissed off at not getting their plane back; this seems fair
enough, as it's worth a lot and it was flying in international airspace.
So, then. Nasty Chinese. How horrid of them to dare to get in the way of
the nice, peaceful American plane and how naughty of them not to give it
back.
And what was the nice, peaceful American plane doing?
Was it dropping happy messages saying 'We love you, Chinese people!' into
the sea? Was it broadcasting free pornography to the sexually-deprived
Communist masses?
Er, no. IT WAS FUCKING SPYING.
Spying. Which is an act of aggression on the part of the
US, and not very nice at all. Okay, the Chinese probably spy from Cuba,
but Cuba's a country, and not international airspace. The Cubans can do
what the hell they like in their own country, whereas actually flying into
neutral waters and pissing about there is not the same thing at all.
It's pretty clear the US shouldn't have been spying, but
neither should the Chinese be holding on to the American's toy plane. Both
sides are at fault, but they're now engaged in a childish game of trying
not to be the one who apologizes. But while in life there's usually someone
there to force both sides to make up, or they'll get no dinner, here there
isn't anyone bigger than the two countries to step it and force them to
stop being silly boys.
If this is the first test of the new idiot-run US government,
then they're already doing everything wrong. At this rate, the US will
be the new North Korea by this time next decade.
The
world is being run by men with the mentality of nine-year-olds. This is
not really anything new, but it's unusual for the governments of the two
biggest world powers, the USA and China, to be both democratically retarded
at the same time. It's also probably very bad news.
So
what's going to happen? Potentially, WWIII, although I don't think even
Dubya Bush is that stupid. Someone, however, will have to lose, and my
guess is it'll be the US. While they had the economic upper-hand over the
USSR, here I think China is the more stable and self-contained country.
If the US government had any sense, they'd grow up and realize that China
is not the USSR and is not the enemy by default. If the USA really want
to change things in China to be more democratic, then they'd be more co-operative,
and try to let things change naturally, as China is opened up to trade.
Instead the US are trying to wield a power they no longer possess. They
may have the most nukes, but everyone knows they would only use them in
a really dire emergency (or in a stupid mistake...).
